The world record for the fastest watercraft was achieved in 1978 and is an astonishing 317 miles per hour. The boat was named ‘Spirit of Australia’ and was driven by Ken Warby. This watercraft looks more like an airplane than it does a boat. There is a fatality rate of approximately 85 percent for people that have attempted to beat the world record since 1940.
